So obviously I should of gone to this sight before I attempted to parallel park yesterday. Yea I took my mom and Brother over to Coronado so my brother could get a present for his girlfriend. Well most of the parking there is parallel. I made two attempts. The first one obviously ended up being to small. The second one was plenty big, but I got laughing too hard by the fact that my brother is saying, "This is so embarrassing I'm hiding." Which he totally did. I was so embarrassed. I was laughing so hard I couldn't even concentrate. There was a big line behind me, they could pass either. And there where people outside eating. Finally I gave up and left. I went to turn down a side street when fate happened. There was a perfect spot for me to just pull into. YEA! It was a pretty funny sight though. For future reference I should just do the boston Bump. I dont' know how I lived in Boston for 4 years and didn't master parallel parking is beyond me!

I think parallel parking was a trick one generation back (that is to say, MINE, the baby-boomers). It was one of the standard parts of your drivers license exam when dinasours roamed the earth... er, in 1972 when I got mine (geesh, that WAS a long time ago!). Now everyone has switched to the slanted parking spots or regular parking lots.
So don't feel too bad.
Oh, and a good book? "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime" (can't remember the author at the moment, but how many books have that title?). I recommended it for our RS Book Club, and even stared down our stake patriarch's wife's when I had to explain that it has 'some inappropriate' language. It's written from the view of an autistic teenager, and yes, although it has some bad language, I think it's worth reading.
Oh, I'm feeling you! Especially when there are people behind you.
Even if it's the most patient person in the world, and they're not honking, or doing the universal "Oh, come on" two-handed hand wave, you can be sure I am quietly freaking out. The freaking out increases exponentially with every driver who pulls up and has to wait. I am a champion parallel parker -- when no one is watching.
Guess I get my ability to write long comments from me mom, right? :-)
I can't parallel park either. In fact I failed parking on my driver's test, and I didn't even have to parallel, so I guess I can't park at all.
