Mammoth CA

So on Monday we headed up to Mammoth, which is about 6-7 hours from San Diego. We left around 8 am from L.A. and arrived around 3 pm. Not too bad. We stayed on Lake Mary in Crystal Crag Lodge. This is our cabin and below is the view from our cabin. And yes that's snow. Dirty snow but still the first snow my kids have seen all season. Sometimes they loved it and other times they didn't. We were constantly running our heater to dry out our close, not to mention it was a bit cooler there than San Diego. But it was beautiful. Our cabin was very clean, nothing fancy.
Shortly after unloading Mark headed down from our cabin and started to fish. No luck the first day. Drew was funny any time he touched the snow he wanted to go and wash his hands.

This is the view from the Dock about 7 am. It was beautiful. The next day Mark headed out early with Michael on the kayak to fish still no luck, this is Drew taking a short little ride. After him Taylor went out.

Later Savannah took me out she had a blast. She rowed most of the time, and did very well. She didn't' want to stop. But we did and went on a hike.

This is our Cabins behind the trees.

Hiking was an adventure, Savannah complained the Most Taylor loved it and normally it's the opposite between those two. Of course Michael loved it. And well Drew, he had the best ride up.

This is as far as we got the there was just too much snow for us to keep going but this view as pretty.
On the way back the kids slid down some of the snow hills.
Savannah was having fun except for being wet, and having to go the to bathroom in the wild until...
She slid down and got stuck here, and she pretty much cried the rest of the way down. She was wet and cold, and tired. Now I don't know if you can see Taylor's face but she is crying and you would think we are making her cross a log over some 30 foot drop but really the log is resting on the ground. I don't know what her deal was.

Here is our first fish, Michael caught it. We found this great fishing spot but not too long after we caught this fish Drew went to sit on a rock and feel over backwards and cut his face. I than spent the next 3 hours in the hospital as he got sedated and stitched up. (more of that to come)
The last day Savannah to up early and went out fishing with Dad again no luck.

But than about 2 minutes after putting Taylor's pole in the water off the dock she got a fish.

Here they are enjoying the view, but getting a little tired waiting for the fish to bite.

Below is our last fish we caught Mark actually tried to let it go because it was so small, but he wasn't going to survive so we brought him in. By the way these are all trout.

And last but not least our little boy and his stitches. I actually didn't get a picture until we got home. But back to the hospital because of the location they had to sedate him it's a drug that makes you forget everything, and pretty out of it. His eyes where moving like crazy, and he would moan every now and than, it made me a little emotional I started to cry it was just sad to see him like that. Michael was a huge help he held a napkin on Drew's face down to the hospital which was about 15 minutes away. They cleaned it out really good the cut and his eye was full of dirt. Mark cleaned it out the best he could with some lake water. WE didn't have our first aid kit, I though tit was in the car. Mark was pretty frustrated feeling very helpless. He does this all the time, and he couldn't do anything, I mean he does stitches all the time. So he sent me to the hospital because he knew he would be watching way to closely. Drew was like a drunken sailor the rest of the night we had to put him to bed he was bound to fall again. But now he is on the mend and doing well.

Despite that we still had a lot of fun, and it was great to spend so much time with Mark. I know he had fun as well as the kids. I would recommend Mammoth to anyone it's well worth the drive. Even for a few days.

Chillin in L.A.

So after the Dodgers we went and stayed with Mark's Grandma through Monday. We went to Lunch at Johnny's Pastrami, it was really good they where these huge sandwhiches and Michael is just holding half of one.

Drew had a blast running through the water fountain at the mall at Chinese theater. He was soaked. And he drove the rest of L.A. in a diaper. We went to another mall to look for a dress. He wore my swim shorts and his jacket. Not really "classy" for a Beverly Hills mall. Thankfully he was asleep, and didn't want to walk because he would of lost his shorts.

Bumblee Bee, these people are all dressed up in front of the Chinese theater.

I don't really like this picture but he we are overlooking L.A. above in the rich neighborhood. And the bad news is we lost Drew's shoe here. So sad.

Vacation

Friday we where excited to leave on a family vacation.  This only happens once in several years for us it seems.  We started off to LA.  We hit a Dodgers came on Friday they where playing the Angels.  We happened to sit by some very annoying Dodgers fans, i think I saw about 10 people kicked out.  The annoying fans buy us got warned.  We where in out the outfield.  The girls didn't want to go at first especialy Taylor she was going to Stay with Grandma, but she ended up having the most fun.  Here's some highlights.

After the game they had fireworks you could go out on the field to watch, the fireworks was really good too.  The kids had a lot of fun.  Although Drew was ready to "go home" by about 100 times he would try to take off out of the stands.  In-fact I think that's where we where sitting just above where ewe where standing.

This is Michael's souvenir a little bit of the outfield, but you know i have no idea where that is now.

Drew

Drew is always trying on Michael's baseball stuff the other day he got into Mark's Catcher's gear.  This is what I saw when I came looking for him.

Michael

Is our little All-star.  Today was a big game for him.  It was his first time pitching at his baseball game.  He did awesome he came in and finished the inning by striking out his first batter.  Than he pitched 2 more innings.  He had a few walks, at least 5 strike outs, only one walker scored, because he stole home.  Michael also his a in park home run.  It was so happy.  He got the game ball today as well.  It was a great game for him.  To bad for his friend he was playing against, he was the pitcher michael hit his home run off.  I'm so proud of him.  But mostly just so happy to see him so happy.

The Weekend

WEll thankfully our weekend was injury free. On Saturday me and the girls went and saw Hannah Montana Movie, it was actually pretty good. WE went out to eat first. Savannah wanted Boston Market Taylor wanted checkers (which is actually called something else here.) We ended up at boston Market, because savannah worked the hardest. Of course they ordered two sides they didn't even want. Or I should say Taylor did, she didn't even really eat. SAvannah loved it of course. And Taylor complained at the movie, "I wish I would of stayed home." Seriously what's wrong with that girl? Who would not rather go to a movie than stay home. But I am happy to say we didn't have to leave the movie for any potty breaks that was a miracle.

WE of course had the normal baseball game on Saturday is was so close, Michael's team was ahead for most of the game and than they lost pretty sad.

I tought relief Society on Sunday it went pretty good. But we did get off on a wild tangent for awhile we were using a GPS for a comparison in my lesson the next thing I know everyone is telling me all their personal experiences with their GPS's. So funny, so once that was back on track it went really good. It was Elder Tixieria talk and President Monson's talk "BE of Good Cheer." I think they went well. So nice to have that out of the way for the next few weeks.

So Sunday I'm on the phone with my sister-in-law the kids are supposed to be in bed. Michael kept coming out, finally like on his 10th time out he said, "no, no, lesson I think I felt an earthquake, my bed was shaking and my wall was cracking." I'm thinking please. "Go back to bed Michael." I wasn't happy he was out and making up stuff. WEll to calm his worries (because he was afraid if it wasn't an earthquake what was it?) I looked it up online. You can go to this website that will tell you every earthquake in the last hour, day and week. And guess what I found? An earthquake of 5.0 had happened close to L.A. and my felt it. His first earthquake. I told him I was sorry and he was right. On the website it also show how far people felt it and others around us felt it. Mark's Grandma felt it, she said it was a really good jolt. She lives in LA. So kind of funny.

Garage Door

So today as we where getting ready to leave for Michael's baseball game I'm in the house and I hear the garage door going up and down, over and over. I don't remember what I was doing but I couldn't get out there right away to tell them to stop, but when I did i saw Savannah running out of the garage door to the front of the garage, and I said, "STOP PLAYING..." i didn't get to finish she just started, "I'm sorry I didn't mean too, I didn't know he was there." What! Who! Yes Drew had been caught in between our garage door and the frame of the garage (if that makes sense). Savannah had just reopened the door so he was now just bawling, scared, and hurt Taylor was holding him. His head had been pinned. I was not happy and Savannah was very upset, one she hurt Drew and two Mom was mad. Hopefully they will never do that again.

Drew was ok, thankfully. He had a mark/indention where the corner of either the door or the wall hit him about 2 inches long and large bump on the opposite side. I feel truly blessed it didn't hit him anywhere else. His head is very strong. And the sad thing is this door just keeps trying to close. It has big hinges that force the door down. And it was only tonight that I realized just how serious it could of been, call me pathetic but I sat there holding my little boy close to tears and just thanked my heavenly father for protecting him.

I guess I should explain we have one of those garage doors that open all at once, not the rolling kind. And we have a sensor but it's just inside of where the door closes so it only works if you walk across or something is in the lasers path. This is a sample of what kind of door we have.

I later learned exaclty what they where doing, they (Savannah and Taylor) would hold on the door and hang on until it was all the way up than let go and than do it again, and again. Do not let your kids play with the garage door.

My Little project

Ok, so ever since they built our deck we have all this redwood boards left over.  I've been wanting to build a bench.  So I did.  It was a lot harder than I thought, I used a circular saw, when I need something different to make straight lines.  And I called my dad like 20 times.  But none the less I was determined and here it is, oh and I had to screw it to our deck railing so it wouldn't fall.  So someday I'll fix those things oh well for now.
