Wow August is almost over...

I can hardly believe that we are almost done with August.  It's so crazy.  We've been in school for 3 weeks and as I refresh my memory in Michael's math I feel like he just might pass up my knowledge of math this year.  I swear they learn everything sooner.  Of course I was never great at Algebra but I know we didn't learn about exponents in 5th grade.  The poor guy didn't understand his homework one night and he was multiplying out 8x8x8x8x8x8x8x8x8 instead of writing out the base and exponent.  Oh well was that was all said and done things went a lot better.

We have had the battle of the homework already last week.  Michael didn't want to go to soccer practice one day because it was too hot, and he wouldn't start his homework.  Granted it was 98 degrees with humidity.  I'm thinking I've practiced in worse.  So it's 15 minutes until he has to go to practice, and I said ok you need to do your homework.  We'll suddenly he wants to go to practice and do his homework later, uh, NO!!!!  No homework no soccer.  That is my rule and I'm sticking to it.  Now if he had been working on homework we would of gone.  But no homework no soccer, no sports.  So it was not a fun evening there was a lot of pouting and he ended up getting grounded, had to to call my mom, and she calmed him a little.  All in all this bad behavior came down to one things (which I learned on Friday).  He misses his dad.  He's been struggling with never seeing Mark.  He is rarely happy never wants to play with friends.  And after staying up to watch Wizards of Waverly place movie he was not happy!  I talked to him and found out why.  Mark has tried to spend a lot of time with him this weekend and he seems like a different child.  I hope it will carry through the week.

Other than that nothing much is going on.  Mark had some big surgeries this week, one was basically a totally face makeover, face lifts, fat grafts, eye lid something or other...10 hours later!  And the big case this friday was pretty intense, another all day surgery their only case that day.  All hands on deck basically.  They took the bone from the tibia and used it to reconstruct a part of the Jaw.  Something about a flap, and I know he has explained it to me but I could never re-explain it to anyone else with out hand motions and a lot of pointing.  I'll have to ask Mark what was wrong with the guy, but he walked out of the room.  He ended up staying over night, but we took him some in and out burger and a couple of extra to his friends their.  But he was up a lot of the night, getting a total of two hours.

Saturday we had a party at our house with all the Oral Surgeon Residents and their families.  A couple of guys couldn't make it but we had a good group the kids had fun, we sweated and chatted.  It was hot.  I was in the shade and I could feel the sweat rolling down my back, that's how bad it was.  WE had burgers and hot dogs and some other good stuff people brought.  it was fun to chat with some of the other wives.  We have a good group every is pretty nice.

So it was a pretty good weekend.  Mark made it to church he just had to go round so two weeks in a row we've all been to church together Yay!  Drew made it through most of sacrament and that's a huge accomplishment.  I only had to take him out the last 10 minutes.  The missionaries in our ward sang "I need thee every hour"  It was a cool 4 part harmony I believe they are all from Samoa.  They are great singers.  Drew just starred and stopped what he was doing and listened.  I love when that happens.  you know the spirit is strong with it gets little toddlers to listen.  All in all a good weekend.

I'm a Dork

Why you may ask? We'll a couple of things, I dont' know how to spell Yay! Until today, I would either spell it Yea, like in the scriptures, or Yeah. Ugh. I'm still learning.

Another reason is yesterday I felt very tired suddenly so tired I could hardly function, I thought maybe too much sugar, I had sweet and sour chicken for lunch and than made chocolate chip cookies (which I rarely do.) But I could not do anything, It scared me a little. If I sat I had to lay my head down. So it wasn't until later that night talking with Mark, and telling him how irritated my eyes where earlier and how tired I was later it dawned on me, I took benadryl!!! DUH! I took 2 tsps which is more than what I normally take I think but that's what it said to do, and it wipped me out. I'm jsut glad there is a reason I was so tired, and not something else.

Oh and just in case you are wondering I will save you the trouble, if your 2 year old sticks medical twizers in to a socket it will, I repeat WILL, make sparks. Yes my son did that this morning, I grabbed his hand a second late, he probably got a shock. Thankfully I stopped him before he got it further. But I did see blue sparks before I the spilt second I pulled his hand. The poor guy didn't know what to do, he knew he was in trouble yet I could tell it hurt. I asked him if it hurt, and he said, "yeah," and began to tell me what happened.

A swing set.

I'm so excited we finally have a swing set for yard. I've wanted one ever since we moved here. WE got this for $50. I thought it was a great deal we couldn't pass up.It's nothing fancy but the kids love it. I got it from a friend who is moving. They happen to live around the corner from us. We tried to get a trailer, but we couldn't. So we took some of it apart and strapped the big "house' part on our car. Let me tell you that was a task. I wish i would of taken a picture. All we took off was the slide and the swings bars. And four of us put in on the car and 2 of us took it off. And now we have a nice little dent from that experience. All worth it though.

Some fun.

Ah, Boys!
I like this picture, it's so sweet of the boys.

No he is not wearing floaties, well he is, but not for floating or assist in swimming, they are some part of a "battle armor" I think.

This is what Drew put on the other day to play "ball." He is dressed for all of them I think.

My slump in blogging....

I know many are suprised (Ok, the whole 3 people who check my blog) are suprised that I havent' blogged in a long while. A long while for me anyway. Just haven't really felt like it to be honest. Been busy, school starting, Michaels soccer starting, Dentist appointments, back to school night times 2. And speech therapy twice a week. All while basically being a single mom. Mark isn't home much, and I've seen him a total of about 3-4 hours this week alone.
I also have been trying to excersise regularly, I've atleast done 3-4 times a week. On the good side, last sunday we roasted Marshmellow's. The kids swimmed (when they had their rooms clean), I was able to get the kids into another dentist that will cost a lot less, well is will be free I think. So that's great news. Especially since savannah has horrible teeth. I've read a couple of books, I re-read the last two harry potter books. Been busy cleaning my house everyday. It's impossible to keep clean. I have also been very tired, I dont' know why, and tend to get a daily headache. So that's a lot of fun.
Oh I ahve also been working on a bedspreads for the girls room, I didn't want to fork out the money and with my mom's help we are adjusting these ones that have been sitting in there storage room for a good 15 + years. Yes the print wa smade in 1975 or 76, still before I was even born. But I think they are turning out really cute. And it gets us away from the princess bedspreads.

Savannah is reading to Taylor above, it was really cute I snuck a picture than drew wanted a picture like Taylor. He loves having his picture taken.

I saw Drew eating his nectorene with no hands, I don't think he liked touching it. It was cute.
Before and after of the quilts. I think they where made for bunk beds for my cousins originally. My grandma made them. So we have had to do a lot of gathering for the ruffles, thakfully I had the white material my mom bought the blue poke-a-dots.

My sweet kids...

I love these sweet moments when you walk into your daughters room and she is reading her scriptures on her own!  She is really sweet.  SAvannah got scritpures for her baptism and she reads them everyday on her own, sometimes twice a day and she preffers them over any other book. She will stay up to read them.  It's so sweet.  And the first time she read them she said it made her feel good.  I'm so proud of her.

Drew was cute the other day we have this pool you know, and he would hold on to the side and walk around, then he figured out he can walk through the middle and as he did it he said, "Mom, I di-it!, I di-it!" over and over until he reached the other side, but what made it even cuter was the way he was walking, holding his arms up taking these big slow steps.  It was really cute.  His speech is getting a lot better saying more words every week and even he said a 3-4 words sentence.  My friends comment on how much he is improving.  The other day I asked him what was wrong with his eye, and he told me, "my mail, hit me in my eye."  That was great!  Well not the part about the mail hitting his eye.  It was cute how he said the "mail hit" him.  So funny.  He laughs so easily, and loves to make funny faces, he is so sweet and sensitive if someone is crying he goes over and pats them on the back.  Such a sweet boy but it doesn't take him long to change direction and start yelling and hitting because he isn't happy with you.  I guess you always get the good and the bad.

Savannah's Baptism

Savannah was baptized on Saturday, it was a very special day. She seemed excited (yet when I asked her all she said is, "yea but grandma and grandpa leave the next day.) But I think she was really excited she told me as she was getting into her baptismal clothes she had "butterfly's in her stomach." I told her those are good butterfly's. She was pretty nervous though and didn't want to walk in front of everyone in her "too long" overalls, she thought she looked dumb, I assured her she didn't. My mom gave a talk on baptism, it was really sweet it was in a story form of Savannah journey from Pre-mortal life through this life to Temple Marriage, and incorporated the Baptismal covenants. Mark performed the ordinance and it was really sweet after they where going to go changed I walked into the hall to help Savannah and mark scooped her up in a huge hug. It was so special. I really can't describe that day. Mark's mom gave a great talk on The Holy Ghost with different objects to associate the holy Ghost with, and gave her a warm "comfort" blanket. And I forgot There was a musical number, one of my new favorite church songs, "Come into the Water." My sister, and two friends and me sang it. It turned out ok. Savannah really liked it. She was confirmed and received the holy Ghost. After that we went back home oh not before we took some crazy pictures, not many of mine turned out. And than we had a barbecue at home, with the friends that came and our families. It was wonderful to have so much family there, and a lot of friend support about 4 families from the ward came. All in all my stress really payed off, but thanks to my parents for all their help. They helped get our yard ready for the lunch, and they made it look so beatiful I really have the greatest family!

The Zoo

So we also went to the zoo with my family. One of my new favorite exhibits is the new Elephant Odyssey, it's pretty cool. I love the zoo, and we went in the evening it was very relaxing. Here's some pictures from the event.
